Join Ampersand and Corbin-based artist Cari Calico for this workshop for survivors to create abstract pastel self-portraits. Cari will guide us through a bold, colorful, and imaginative style of self-portraiture which will be paired with a brief discussion of the role of art and self-care in recovering from trauma.
Don’t have any experience with pastels? Don’t consider yourself an “artist”? No problem! This low-pressure virtual workshop is an opportunity to stretch your creative muscles, be in community with other survivors, and engage in creative self-expression. (Inspired by the work of Sandra Silberzweig.)
Join us for one or all in this September series of virtual artistic workshops. These workshops are developed with survivors of sexual violence in mind and will bring the unique talents of local artists who will guide both novice and experienced creators through healing, creative work in community.
Ampersand will provide all the materials needed for this workshop.
